This prime site for the landmark was donated to us by a very generous local benefactor.
The site measures (need measurements, maybe we have them somewhere.)
It’s located right on South Main Street near the shops and businesses. It’s the primary commercial route both North/South from the I-57 junction, as well aws the intersection with East Marshall Street which is the East/West route from I-57. In short, any landmark would be directly on the route visitors would pass by.
Our initial thoughts are that the artwork and new landscaping might occupy between a third to one-half of the grassed area nearest to Main Street. This would ensure good visibility and also enable civic events such as Christmas celebrations to happen on the remaining grassed area.
The trees on the corner adjacent to the street could be removed to enhance visibility, as well as ensure that the new space is physically accessible for people with limited mobility. The rest of the trees could then be kept both to enhance the area – and to sit under in the shade!
