Together, these elements create a solid, three-dimensional illusion of a staircase made entirely of light. The staircase is both life-sized and infinitely tall. FLIGHT appears every hour, slowly materializing over sixty seconds. It remains illuminated for five minutes before gradually disappearing. The spectacle is vivid at any time of day, even in full sunlight. The reverse side of the sculpture features a monumental mirror angled to reflect the Charleston sky. A long bench is integrated into the form.
